Fragrance, Boats, and Bugs
We're back with our monthly update to keep you in the loop with everything Briiv 2. It's been a great month of small but meaningful wins as we move ever closer to fulfilment!
This month we take a look at the finalised Yorkshire Moss, get stuck into our new and improved fragrance system, beta test our latest app and check up on where Briiv 2 is in the world!
The fragrance upgrade
After spending the last three months testing and living with Briiv 2, we started to notice a few areas we could improve upon without introducing any delays to fulfilment, one of which was how the fragrance mode works.
The original concept was to have the user fill a small reservoir within Briiv 2 and using a natural rattan stick (as seen in common household diffusers) the fragrance would be wicked down inside the base. The fragrance would then be in line with the exhaust of the fan and be picked up and dispersed with the clean air as it moves around your environment.
This presented a fair few challenges...
The diffuser sticks themselves are made from natural rattan, which is a very sustainable material to use. However, they are a natural material and nature likes to throw you a few curveballs every now and then (this time in the form of literal curvy sticks).

As you can imagine with any product that's using liquids, you need really good seals to make sure the the wet bits stay wet and the dry bits stay dry. So away we went and developed a custom rubber seal that was designed to keep everything nice and seperate.
Fast forward a few weeks and our bendy sticks refused to play ball, resulting in a very inconsistent flow of essential oil. For you guys this meant it would be very easy to overload the product without realising it. This wouldn't cause any damage to Briiv but you would waste a lot of fragrance and it would quickly overload the overspill area built into the base, which would be bad...
So we went back to the drawing board and developed a much better way to use your fragrance with Briiv 2!
Say hello to our Fragrance Buds 👋
These unassuming sticks of compressed felt are designed to screw onto the reusable Fragrance Stick to create a reusable fragrance delivery system!

Biodegradable buds with the recycled aluminium reusable stick

Each bud will absorb 10 drops of fragrance oil and can be reused repeatedly with the same fragrance.
We're finalising this new design with our fragrances and as it stands 10 drops from a standard oil dispenser will last between 24-48h (depending on oil used) with Briiv 2 on its highest setting in a 4m x 4m room. This is perfect to give your home an instant hit of summer scent for when guests are over or just treat yourself to an day of calming lavender and chamomile.

This new design is much neater and also easier for us to track the environmental impact it has and offers a much more consistent experience so you can add something nice to your room with less hassle.
Yorkshire Moss. Perfected and complete.

Moss production is well underway and here's a glimpse at our experimenting process, trying to perfect the perfect shade of moss.
The moss is completely dried before we start as a first stage. We then sterilise it to ensure it is medically clean whilst at the same time we add some natural food colouring to save on water use.
The whole process also uses cold water to reduce the carbon footprint.
The moss is then spread out and left to dry naturally over 3 days in our factory where it's then boxed up ready to be divided into filter packs.

Trip around Madagascar - ETA 27th July
The last of the parts that we are waiting for are on their way to us on this fine vessel that can be seen below.

This is our boat in all its boaty glory.
When it arrives we will have everything we need to start fulfilment on time as planned in August.
Touching those bugs
Our lone software engineer Chris has been working away for the past 3 weeks to identify why the touch controls were behaving badly on not all of the units... but just some of them.... 🧐
He has now successfully identified what was the cause and now every unit behaves the same.

Last chance to change shipping addresses
With the fulfilment only a month away we are getting all the shipping documentation in order ahead of time so the fulfilment can run as smoothly as possible.
With that in mind any last minute changes need to be done by the 25th of July.
Last call for surveys
We are still waiting on 20 peoples' surveys! We need this so we have your address.
If you still haven't completed your survey by the 25th July it will start to cause delays to us shipping your order.
If you haven't yet completed your survey, please get in touch so we can help you get it filled in.
That was a long old update but I hope you've found it useful and interesting to see what we've been up to.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to send us a message or let us know in the comments.
Until next month, take care!
