Smart Home integration
It would be great to be able to integrate Briiv with an Apple Home (and/or Alexa home) hub, so devices could be controlled along with other systems such as the heating or lighting - thanks

We're happy to say we now have Home Assistant compatibility! We have successfully developed it to the point where it's now in the approval stage with an estimated release date for the end of January!
We'll be sure to update the community when everything is officially up and running 😊

Hey Robert,
While this option isn't currently available, this is something we're looking at in our new firmware upgrade! The more requests we get for this the sooner we'll be able to offer the integration, so it's good to know that there's interest.

I am also interested in this.

Hey Jamie Saunders, you'll be pleased to know this is something our engineer is currently working on, so we'll hopefully have exciting announcements related to this soon!

Amazing, thanks for the update!

I am also interested in Apple HomeKit integration, please add this feature!

How about a Home Assistant (https://www.home-assistant.io/) Integration? Home Assistant is an incredible open-source platform for techy and privacy-minded people. It is also more flexible than any other smart home platform currently out there. I would love to see one! Developing one isn't that hard, either. Alternatively, you could document and publish the API, and the open-source community would take care of it - although an official integration would definitely be preferred.
Also, will the Briiv (Pro) need an internet connection to operate?

I'm also interested in this, not least as it was advertised as having these features. I'm particular it would be great to get it work with an air quality monitor

Hey Ariel Ebersberger,
Great idea! We're finalising Alexa integration currently and the plan is to work on other home assistants after that (Google Home etc), but this is definitely a good shout for going forward!
Like the current Briiv, Briiv Pro won't require an internet connection to use but there will be features that you won't be able to access without an internet connection, including all app controls.

Hi Laurence Burrows,
As mentioned above we're finalising Alexa integrations now! Regarding an air quality monitor, we have just announced our new Briiv Pro model which has a built in air quality monitor and can be linked to your existing units to create an entire clean air system for your home! You can read more about it here.

Can the Briivs be made compatible with Home Assistant please

Hi Adam Williams,
We're currently finalising our Alexa integration (which should launch very soon!) and once that's done we can shift focus to a Home Assistant integration!

Hi. You mentioned Google Home integration above as I don't have Alexa and when buying these products it explicitly mentioned integration with Google Home. When can I expect the firmware to be updated on the original units to provide this advertised feature please?

Hi Laurence,
We're currently working on ironing out some existing bugs, but once these have all been resolved we'll be moving on to adding in features like Google Home integration. We'll be laying out a roadmap for all of this very soon so stay tuned to keep updated. Thanks again for your patience!

+1 for Home Assistant Support! Please add support for an integration on their platform.

+1 for Home Assistant for both the old and the 2 pro once.
Is there an update, roadmap or eta?

Awesome! I might have missed the updated, were was/will it be released?

Hi Noah, this is is still in the approval stage, so like you we're waiting it out, we don't think it'll be too much longer 🤞.

Any updates to share?

The last we heared from the dev was on 28. May. This is the current pull request I can see: https://github.com/home-assistant/core/pull/144897

I'll get an update from our engineer on this! We're trying to work on it in bulk but the feedback from the Home Assistant team is a a little more piecemeal, so it's dragging the process out somewhat.

We're back with an update from our engineer!
As previously mentioned before we're a small company with one engineer utilised in multiple roles so we sincerely apologise for the delay. We're finding it difficult to get through the process as we're not getting timely responses from the people at Home Assist paired with single requests as opposed to a providing us with the bulk of tasks that need to be done. We're doing our best to communicate our way through this with them and your patience is greatly appreciated.

Hi, so as there was no answer from the engineer, the PR mentioned above was closed two days again. Is this still somehow planned? https://github.com/home-assistant/core/pull/144897
For us the app doesn't work (it's in chinese and we can't change it), so this would be the only way to actually use our briivs.

Hey Noah Schneider,
I'll be honest, we've had a lot of issues with the PRs from Home Assistant. As mentioned previously we're getting really slow responses and single requests which has continued to happen. Each time a new pull request is opened we're seeing an incredibly long lead time, and as an open source platform there's not a specific body we can reach out to for assistance. It makes it incredibly difficult to assign resources towards this, and it does put us in a tough spot. To be completely frank, there seem to be a lot of barriers in place that we're struggling to push past - it's like pouring water into a holey bucket!
We're looking into freelance options, and at this point we'll also welcome any advice or recommendations!
For your specific example, we've actually never come across this before. The Briiv app pulls the language from your device's settings, so if you can email our customer service team with your serial number we can look into this specifically for you.

I asked this during the Kickstarter campaign and I'll ask it again here. Why not use something like MQTT first? That way, you're not dependent on anyone and it can also be used outside of HA. For example, I use IOBroker, so I wouldn't benefit from integration into HA at all.

Hey Tobias
The Briiv communications are MQTT based and runs on an AWSIOT server, which is certificate based. We aren't able to share this info, but we can look into some other options for you based on this!
