About the Briiv App
The Briiv App is a completely optional feature to enhance your smart home capabilities. We've created a brand new app to work with Briiv, and we're finalising the process of getting older units updated to work with the new app.
How do I know if I should use the new app?
If you have a Briiv 2.0 device you can use the following guides to connect to the app. You can check the manufacturing sticker on the underside of your unit. If it says 'Briiv 2.0' then you're good to go on the new app! If not you'll want to continue using the original app for now, or get in touch with our team at ask@briiv.co.uk to discuss options.
The newest Briiv units have a blue light animation during set-up. Once the animation returns to the normal display the unit will be in connection mode, and then you can follow the set-up as described. You can watch the video below to see how to use the touch controls and what the Briiv looks like while connecting.

Please be aware that:
- Briiv can only be connected to the 2.4Ghz band on Wi-Fi routers or access points (AP). During the Wi-Fi configuration, your smartphone needs to connect to the 2.4Ghz band.
- All Wi-Fi routers have a 2.4Ghz band, but newer routers are often dual-band with 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands.
- If both of your 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz have the same name (SSID) and password, then you won't have any problem connecting to your Briiv regardless which Wi-Fi band your smartphone is connected to.
Top Tips!
- If connecting multiple units at once to the app, after connecting each one wait until the Briiv disappears from your network list in your settings; this means the Briiv has finished communicating and will show up in your app shortly!
- Try to avoid letting your Briiv cable cross over other electronics or wires, and this can cause interference that makes the connection process more difficult.
- Between confirming your WiFi network password and appearing in the app, the Briiv is communicating with our server and pulling through all the latest updates. This means it can take up to 3 minutes to show up in your app. You can periodically refresh the app by swiping the screen down, but avoid closing the app completely.
