All Briiv units that are connected to WiFi via the Briiv 2.0 app should pull through any new firmware updates automatically on an OTA (over the air) basis.
Units which don't pull the update through may need to be updated manually instead, but rather than sending your Briiv back to us we've made a Briiv Firmware Update Utility. This means you can update your Briiv firmware yourself at home, giving you access to all the latest features and bug fixes.
To use the Utility you need to use a Chrome browser, and your unit must have an integrated cable. If you have a micro-USB removable cable, the Utility won't currently work for your unit. You also need a computer with a USB port.
- Plug your Briiv directly into your computer using the USB cable (do not use a hub)
- Open the utility https://fivecreate.github.io/Briiv2.0.github.io/
- Choose your platform (original Briiv, or Briiv 2/2Pro)
- Click connect
- Select your port and click connect
- Click Install Briiv
- Click install
- Remain on this page with the browser window open and visible
- Wait for the firmware to update. This can take up to two minutes
- When the party popper displays your installation is complete!
- Your unit is now up to date. You can unplug it from your computer and return it to its usual power source.
NOTE It can take upwards of five minutes for the firmware update to show in the app, so don’t worry if it’s not there immediately. Your unit may also need time to apply the update, so after returning to its usual power source you should leave your Briiv unit and app for around five minutes.
You can check the firmware version by going into the app and pressing and holding on the unit name. The firmware version will pop up and should now be up to date.

Hi, what do I do if my unit won't update? It's stuck on 0.4.15 with no way of updating
Hi Steve Eaton,
Are you getting an error message, or is nothing happening at all?
Nothing at all. Runs through like it completed but when I check it's not been updated.
Hi Steve Eaton, that's a strange one! Please can you email our customer service team on ask@briiv.co.uk with some screenshots so they can work through this with you? If the party popper is displaying then you should be having success, though it can take the app a few minutes to log the update.
Hi
My Briiv is stuck on firmware 0.4.6 and I've tried to use the utility in a Chrome browser with my Briiv connected to my laptop using the Briiv USB cable. Every time I try to connect I get the message “fivecreate.github.io wants to connect to a serial port”. I've deleted the app and then deleted the Briiv in the app and re-installed but the firmware update is not pulled through. What are my options from this point onwards please?
